Two months since the last log. Moved to Bangalore with the family. The honest version: consistency just went out the window. Moving isn't a task. It's a full context switch. You're not just changing the location of your desk. Schools, commutes, routines, the whole ambient structure that made focus feel automatic, all of it gets rebuilt from scratch. Takes time. More time than you expect when you're optimistic about it.

But not absent. There's a distinction worth making. The commits dropped. The AI usage didn't. That gap is actually interesting if you sit with it. AI stayed as the continuous thread through the chaos. Quick experiments, new ideas, half-baked thoughts that got tested and discarded. Not shipping, but not empty either. Which maybe says something about where AI fits in the stack of human attention, though I'll get to that.

The big thing in progress: building a coding agent from scratch. From actual scratch, not from a framework. The whole chain. Single-shot prompt, then runtime, then provider handling, then an agent loop, then skill support. Called it Sol for now. Weird name. Will probably change it. About fifty to sixty percent there. The bones exist. What doesn't exist yet is the polish, and polish is where the real work actually lives. It's easy to build something that mostly works. Getting it right takes a fundamentally different kind of attention and a lot more of it.

Which is the thing I keep turning over. Two kinds of work. There's the deep kind, where you have to be fully inside the problem, not watching, not steering from a distance, actually in it. Building Sol requires this. You can one-shot a lot of it but the nuance, the places where the design actually matters, those need real presence. You can't delegate that to twenty agents running in parallel. You go there or you don't. Then there's the other kind: chores. The stuff that needs to get done but doesn't need you specifically. Repetitive, draining in the way that isn't interesting, mental bandwidth spent on something that has no real return on the thinking. That's the lane where AI is genuinely transformative. Not replacing thought. Clearing the path for it.
